Russian Orphan Children's Mission Trip

After experiencing mission work in Biloxi, Mississippi and Belfast, Hungary, we are planning to continue in our service by going to Moscow, Russian in December with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission. While in Russia, we will get to experience many new things. We will meet and build relationships with many orphans who live in poverty and celebrate Christmas with them by hosting the 8th annual Russian Orphans Christmas party. We will also participate in many other activities such as, taking orphans to a circus, worshiping in both the Savior Russian Orthodox Church on their Christmas Eve (January 6th) and the First United Methodist Church on their Christmas Eve (January 7th). We will get to visit and shop at many different places like Red Square, Arbat Street and Sparrow Hill. If possible, we hope to make a visit to the New Opera House to see The Nutcracker. While having time to discover all these wonderful aspects about Russia and its culture, our main goal and mission is to build relationships with everyone on the team and in the orphanages.
We are being asked to provide some items for the trip and would like to ask our church family to assist us in this endeavor. If there is anyone who would like to purchase a Circus ticket for $10.00, please contact us or the church office. The $10.00 will pay for the circus show, a bag of candy, and transportation to and from the circus. This will give a Russian orphan an evening they will never forget. There are also boxes around the church that will be used to hold items that are needed to provide to the mission team for distribution to the children. Each of us is asked to provide twenty-five, 2- gallon zip lock bags with the following items:
We appreciate any assistance you can provide. We mostly request that you pray for the mission team and our service to God by participating in this experience of a lifetime.
In His Service,
